Пояснення

Зверніть увагу на багатозначність більшості англійських слів: крім основного значення, слово може мати ще декілька варіантів перекладу, наприклад, у даній вправі try означає не лише намагатися, а й куштувати; book, окрім звичного значення книга, тут означає бронювати, замовляти. Тому у випадках, коли нібито знайоме слово неможливо правильно перекласти, варто перевірити у словнику, чи не має воно інших значень. ___

Оглядати визначні місця (пам’ятки); їздити на одноденні екскурсії; бронювати (замовляти) житло; планувати, укладати плани; читати туристичні довідники; куштувати місцеві страви; пакувати валізи; купувати сувеніри.

Пояснення

У деяких довідниках із граматики в назвах часів замість Simple може вживатися Indefinite, а замість Continuous — Progressive. Це одне й те саме.

Пояснення

У всіх реченнях вправи має вживатися Past Simple. Для його утворення беремо слово в дужках, знаходимо його в таблиці неправильних дієслів (у кінці підручника або словника) і беремо його 2-гу форму (2-га колонка таблиці). Якщо слова там нема, то додаємо до нього -ed.

b) came; threw; went; found; ate; took; ran; saw; had; bought.

a — дія сталася раніше, першою (Past Perfect);

b — дія сталася пізніше, другою (Past Simple).

Пояснення

У реченнях з однорідними присудками (тобто коли перелічуюються дії в одному й тому ж часі), допоміжне дієслово (в даній вправі have) можна вживати один раз на початку речення, а далі не повторювати.

By 9 o’clock yesterday morning I had got up, washed my hands and face and had my breakfast. I had also brushed my teeth, put on my school uniform and gone to school. And I had met my friends and spoken to them before classes began.

I like English and I try to read in English every day. The hardest thing for me is spelling. Unlike Ukrainian, in English you often say one thing, but write something quite different. I don’t have any problems with memorizing words or listening to records, though when native speakers speak I have problems in understanding them. As I said, I spend a lot of time reading. I try very hard with grammar, but I still make mistakes. I am getting good at translating from English into Ukrainian, but not vice versa [навпаки]. I’m OK with general understanding, though I need more practice. I like talking, though I am shy because I’m afraid of making mistakes. I like listening to songs in English best, because I love music.
